Similar to the 898B the buttons on this device are also not customizable, however whereas that only has five buttons, this has 11 allowing for a much greater degree of control. Although they aren’t customizable I’d suggest that seeing as they have so many buttons they’re more than able to fulfill the disabled driver’s requirements.
The key pad has backlights allowing for the driver to see which button is which regardless of how bright the interior of the vehicle is. It’s also rotatable allowing you to change the position to suit what you want.
Detaching the keypad is as easy as pressing the button in the middle, which removes it from the steering wheel. The system runs on lithium ion batteries meaning that it does need to be charged, it doesn’t run of the car’s power system.
- However you can also purchase a car battery charger, or a standard charger to be used with an electrical outlet.
One very useful aspect is that it’s equipped with a dusk sensor which automatically activates the headlights when it gets too dark.
I think this has a few improvements upon the 898B; one of them is the infrared interface which ensures the portability of the model without impacting upon quality.
- This of course moves onto the portability aspect itself, being detachable allows for a non-disabled driver to be able to easily access the car’s secondary functions as per usual.
Next is the use of a far greater amount of buttons, which allow control of less-important, but still useful things such as the windscreen wipers and windscreen washers.
Finally it also comes with a knob on the middle, and considering the placement of the model on the steering wheel as it protrudes outwards this is useful for steering the wheel.
